protecting the environment
Chevron is a leader in environmental stewardship – reducing emission, minimizing flaring, improving energy efficiency and recycling water. We are continually working to improve our environmental performance.
Our Health, Environment and Safety team works to ensure that compliance with all government rules and requirements is embedded in our operations. It is our goal to minimize any potential impact on our neighbors, which is why we are continually investing in new equipment and technologies that help us to improve the performance of the refinery and minimize our environmental footprint.
In 2015, the EPA issued a rule requiring all petroleum refineries to conduct monitoring for benzene emissions along facility fencelines. In accordance with EPA guidance, the Chevron Pasadena Refinery conducts monitoring by collecting air samples from fixed locations around the property. We report our results on a quarterly basis.
Protecting people and the environment is one of Chevron's core values, and we strive to operate safely and responsibly in all our locations. As the owner and operator of the Pasadena Refinery since May 1, 2019, Chevron is committed to improving the site's environmental performance.
Air sampling and reporting to the EPA is a continuous process, and Chevron will keep making our data available through the EPA.
